Gaydolf Shitler

Here’s a video of Bryan playing in Rock Lottery 8, in the band Gaydolf Shitler:

New 7″ and shows w/ Magnolia Electric Company

Thanks to those of you who watched us at Rubber Gloves last Saturday. ’twas a real pleasure to play with Centro-matic, Handbrake, and Bridges and Blinking Lights. My ass was handed to me!

Our first 7″, “The Illustrator” b/w “Faulkner’s Blues” is out now. A 4-song CD-R is included for your convenience and includes two extra songs: “Measured Against” and “Carbonade”. You can buy it from us at our shows or from Works Progress.

This week we play twice with the hopefully forgiving Magnolia Electric Company. Golden Boots are also on the bills, but I’m afraid I know jack-all about them! The shows:

Thu 13 Sep @ Emo’s in Austin, TX
Sat 15 Sep @ Rubber Gloves in Denton, TX

In two weeks or so…

no. 7
Tre Orsi no. 7: “The Illustrator” b/w “Faulkner’s Blues” 7″ single

“The Illustrator” is on our MySpace player.

This is what we do instead of practice.

7″ is on the way

Yesterday, we sent off the 1/2″ master to Bob Weston at Chicago Mastering Service, who will be cutting the master lacquers for our 7″. They should then be at the plant by Tuesday, and barring any huge problems, we’ll have Tre Orsi no. 7 in our hands by the beginning of September.

We’ve also added a couple of shows with our friends Magnolia Electric Company in September, with more shows planned after that.

Recording diary: You drank the rest of my beer

Last night at the Echo Lab, we finished mixing the two songs for our 7″, “The Illustrator” and “Faulkner’s Blues”, all while Shearwater wailed away practicing in the big playing room. Tired though we were, Pappy Van Winkle helped us soldier on, and I think everyone is satisfied with the results.

Howard and I hit the road w/ Shearwater and The New Year this week, while Bryan is going on a week-long spirit quest. After that (unless our producer says otherwise), it’s off to Mr. Carl Saff, then to some nice Czech people to press it up. Then onto your turntable!

More shows being added for this summer and fall. Of course we’ll tell you about this shit!

Recording diary: Fuggin’ Chiggin’

HD, BV, and tasty chicken
(Thanks to Chris of Deep Snapper for the tasty eats.)

This past Sunday, we recorded basic tracks for two songs, “The Illustrator” and “Faulkner’s Blues”. Bubba Kadane came in to provide moral support and musical oversight, which was much appreciated. We spent a good long while toying with arrangements and little details, and got about 6 takes worth looking at later. By the time we wrapped up around 11 pm (after a nice, leisurely dinner at Andaman), we decided to sit for a few days before final review, overdubs and mixing.

More to come!

BioOrsi

Screw the 15-passenger van and gasoline. Here we are, packed into Howard’s Volkswagon Jetta TDI Wagon, running B99 Biodiesel. It’s actually quite comfy, and we get around 45 mpg on the highway.

Coming soon: the Tre Orsi organic community garden, the Tre Orsi free bike shop, and then a descent into back-to-the-earth Hippydom, culminating in extended djembe and rainstick solos.

Post-Pig update

Thanks to those of you who came to see us play with Hogpig at their release shows this weekend. Thanks to those of you who did not reflexively vomit at the site of Matt singing “Fuck You Mike Love” with the ‘Pig.

On the horizon: we’re planning on recording a 7″ in the next month or so, and will start working on a bunch of new material soon, in preparation for a group of shows this summer. More details as these things actually start happening.
