How many kolaches can I eat?

At least 4. We rampaged the Czech Stop in West, TX twice in two days, which is a work-related hazard for those driving to and from Austin. Howrad inhaled THREE gigantic cupcakes by himself, then nearly heaved them back up as we listened to Scharpling and Wurster’s “Jock Squad” bit on their The Art Of The Slap record.

New stuff: just added two TX dates with the wonderful Nina Nastasia, plus a date with Joe Lally at Rubber Gloves. Also working on a brief Midwest jaunt in April with our brothers from other mothers in Minus Story.

Bears for the Holidays

First of all: thanks to those who came out to the Good Records in-store. A totally great time was had by me. Shiny Around The Edges and Douche destroyed in their own unique ways. Me and the wife dropped $225 on records and DVDs. Beer beer beer beer.

So what’s up, us? Matt (me) and Howard have been working hard on the new Shearwater record, and Bryan is busy helping finish up South San Gabriel’s new one, but still, somehow we find the time to book more shows and write more songs and tell jokes to each other. We are a damned juggernaut, I tell you. A slow-moving juggernaut, but a juggernaut nonetheless.

We have some stuff coming up on the horizon: shows in January and February, and some recording in March or April, if all goes according to our (loose) plans. Doesn’t that sound exciting? Holy crap, it does to me!

Fall shows and bakesales

The untimely demise of Secret Headquarters has forced us to cancel our Oct 26th show w/ Handbrake and Tame.. Tame and Quiet. Crap! SHQ will be sorely missed.

We are, though, playing a couple of other shows in the next few weeks. For instance:

Thursday, Oct 25 in Austin, TX @ Club Deville
This is a CD release show for our friend Thor’s Fields of Innards album. Thor is a handsome, rugged, and sweet man who built a wooden spiral staircase without a single nail or screw. He’s also a great percussionist (for Shearwater, Bill Callahan, Angels of Light, and others) who made a wicked great ambient record. The show starts at 10PM with Shaky Hands, then us, then Thor & Friends, and then Yellow Fever batting clean-up. There will be drinking.

Saturday, Nov 17 in Denton, TX @ Rubber Gloves
It’s NOVEMBERFEST, a rock show and bake sale, I guess. Jenny and Michael Semen of Shiny Around The Edges put this thing together. It’s us and The Nouns Group, Shiny Around the Edges, Fierce Perm (Olympia, WA), Douche, Tame… Tame & Quiet, and Rival Gang. I have no idea what the hell is going to happen, but I’m sure it will be a total delight.

We were almost on tour for a second there…

What a great time we had playing with Magnolia Electric Co. and Golden Boots this past week! Such great people, great bands! We’re so happy! Wheeeeee!

You can purchase our new 7″ + CD-R from Works Progress. If you’re digitally inclined, you can get it on with the Snocap store on our MySpace page. Hey, whatever blows your skirt up.

Up next for us: shows in Austin and Denton in October, more to come elsewhere after that, then maybe more recording and other exciting stuff.

You can remain as informed as you want to be by subscribing to our RSS feed. You can remained as entertained as you want to be by reading the Blahg. Ok!

New 7″ and shows w/ Magnolia Electric Company

Thanks to those of you who watched us at Rubber Gloves last Saturday. ’twas a real pleasure to play with Centro-matic, Handbrake, and Bridges and Blinking Lights. My ass was handed to me!

Our first 7″, “The Illustrator” b/w “Faulkner’s Blues” is out now. A 4-song CD-R is included for your convenience and includes two extra songs: “Measured Against” and “Carbonade”. You can buy it from us at our shows or from Works Progress.

This week we play twice with the hopefully forgiving Magnolia Electric Company. Golden Boots are also on the bills, but I’m afraid I know jack-all about them! The shows:

Thu 13 Sep @ Emo’s in Austin, TX
Sat 15 Sep @ Rubber Gloves in Denton, TX

In two weeks or so…
