31: Philadelphia, PA @ Johnny Brenda’s
w/ The New Year and Dirty on Purpose
So, The New Year asked us to play some shows with them on their Eastern US tour, which was mighty sweet of them, considering we only have one 7″ single and have done jack-all outside of Texas and the Midwest.
I had been hearing from many folks that Johnny Brenda’s was a great place to play. Considering how unpleasant the Khyber Pass is, I took it with a grain of salt, but no, this place is for-real great. Warm, friendly staff, excellent beer selection (all brewed within 100 miles of the bar), and good food.
We played ok, I think. I talked too much because I was nervous. My friend Dawn drove out from State College, PA to hang out and catch up. After the show, we drove to Newark, DE and stayed with Mike Donofrio’s sister. And that’s about that!
The actual set order eludes me now, but I know we played these songs:
- Declaring Space
- The Engineer
- The Illustrator
- Faulkner’s Blues
- Tiny Executive
- The Visible Hand
- Measured Against
