46: Austin, TX @ Beerland
Beautiful Supermachines CD release with Distant Seconds, Monument to No One.
Had we really not played Austin since last October? What the shit, self? Anyhow, Beautiful Supermachines were celebrating the release of their album (which Matt mixed). We missed most of their set ‘cuz we had to load out and drive back to lil’ D after playing. Bummer! Adding to the circle-jerk, The Distant Seconds (who Matt has recorded a bunch) threw down their Voidoids/Wire thing with some fury. Missed most of them as well, catching up with old friends. I suck!
We drove home after the show (which we normally never do), as there was a band at the studio waiting for Matt to record them. Stopping for Red Bull and Bacon Ranch Pringles near Jarrell, we ran into our friends, Nervous Curtains, who had just laid waste to Stubb’s. I-35, it really brings people together.
I’m pretty sure we played these songs:
- “The Baker’s Wife”
- The Engineer
- The Visible Hand
- The Illustrator
- Faulkner’s Blues
- Declaring Space
- Manumission
- Carbonade
