50: Dallas, TX @ Victor Munger House

Hey! This is Tre Orsi no. 50! And it was a good one.

Who knew Dallas had it in ‘em to host great house parties? Our second Dallas show of the summer, and second house show there, and we had a helluva great time. Richie, Rachel, Jake, and the rest of the crew made us old farts feel at home in their gorgeous, two-story pad. They even did a little sidewalk chalk art welcoming us.

Beautiful Supermachines trucked it all the way up from Austin and really showed us something. Sean Kirkpatrick even sat in with them on keys for a few songs. Despite an all-new rhythm section and power-trio format, the songs lost none of their panache. Their album, Shut Up, is highly recommended.

Next up was us, and despite me being about 4 beers in already AND having not practiced in a while, we played pretty good, I think! We kept it short, it being warm in there and also wanting to make sure Nervous Curtains had ample opportunity to blow minds in case the cops were called.

Speaking of Nervous Curtains, “holy shit” is all I hafta say. The best guys. Amazing players. A real force of a band. Love them. Their new album comes out soon and you should buy copies for everyone you know.

We played these songs:

  1. Manumission
  2. Declaring Space
  3. The Engineer
  4. The Visible Hand
  5. The Illustrator
  6. Measured Against
